about
Veritas Artizen Chocolate
Veritas Artizen Chocolate is a small, family/woman-owned chocolate company located in Loudoun County, Virginia. We make chocolate from cacao beans sourced through our Direct Trade partner, Royal Cacao, in Ecuador. After we take the beans through 8 steps to turn it into chocolate, we make bars, bonbon, truffles, and a variety of chocolate treats. Our dark chocolate has only organic cacao and sugar, and our milk chocolate is only that plus cocoa butter and milk powder. We add nothing to stretch it and produce it cheaply. Everything is absolutely hand-crafted...a labor of love!
Andrea Howard is the Chocolate Maker/Chocolatier. With an eclectic professional background. She adds creativity, dedication to excellence, and the joy of making people happy through chocolate, to everything aspect of the business.
Our mission is to create the highest quality pure chocolate while supporting the cacao farmers who grow the beans, with a fair price and a livable wage, also committing to sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
“There is nothing better than a friend,
unless it is a friend with chocolate.”

QUALITY CACAO FROM SINGE ORIGIN DIRECT TRADE FARMERS IN ECUADOR
We work closely with our Direct Trade partner, Michael Phillips with Royal Cacao, to bring us the highest quality organic cacao beans from Ecuador. Michael has been working tirelessly with the other cacao farmers in his region to develop life sustaining wages and eco-friendly practices. By cutting out the unnecessary parties in the exporting chain, farmers are compensated at a higher rate and have been able to develop a standard of living more equitable to the hard work they do. We take our role in the process of ethical cacao farming seriously and are proud to feature that as a prominent element of our mission.
